Donald Trump has indicated that a second round of US-Iran talks could take place within the next two days, possibly in Islamabad, amid rising tensions in the region.
Speaking about the development, Trump suggested that officials from both sides may return for negotiations following an earlier round held on April 11, which ended without progress. He noted that the next meeting could happen soon, with Islamabad again being considered as the venue.
Trump also praised Asim Munir, linking his role to the likelihood of renewed talks and describing his efforts positively.
The remarks come as the situation between the United States and Iran intensifies after the US Navy imposed a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting threats of retaliation from Tehran.
Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator and has proposed hosting further discussions. While another round could take place as early as Thursday, officials have said that details such as venue and delegation composition are still being finalised, with Geneva also under consideration.
The ongoing conflict has disrupted global markets and caused significant casualties across the region, raising concerns of further escalation.
