US President Donald Trump on Monday said countries around the world should reimburse the United States for its role in securing the Strait of Hormuz, as the key waterway remains severely disrupted amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “The Countries of the World, which have been no help to us whatsoever, should, and will, reimburse the United States of America when this SCAM Confligration is all over.”
He added, “We are doing it much more for others, than we are for ourselves,” arguing that the US had carried a greater burden for other countries for generations.

Trump also said, “oil is flowing through the Hormuz Strait,” while criticising other countries for providing no assistance to Washington.
Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains at its lowest levels, with the disruption putting pressure on global energy markets. Oil prices have risen above USD 100 a barrel, while US gas and diesel prices have also climbed.
Iran has restricted shipping through the waterway since February 28, when the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran. Tehran now requires vessels to seek permission to pass, while ships that do not comply have faced attacks. The US has also carried out periodic strikes along the Iranian coast.
