Washington DC: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have been “wiped out”, asserting that Tehran is projecting false strength even as it privately acknowledges its weakened position.
Speaking from the Oval Office during a proclamation signing, Donald Trump portrayed Iran as significantly weakened, asserting that its private stance in negotiations differs sharply from its public rhetoric.
Addressing reporters, Trump said Tehran’s leadership acknowledges its position behind closed doors but projects strength in public. “Iran has no chance. They never did. They know it… Then they get on television and say how well they’re doing,” he said.
The US President went on to claim that key elements of Iran’s military capability have been neutralised, alleging that its navy, air force, air defence systems and leadership structure have been “totally wiped out.” His remarks, however, were not independently verified.
Trump also highlighted the role of the US Navy in the ongoing maritime standoff, pointing to the effectiveness of the blockade in the region. He described American naval strength as “unbelievable” and said the operation has successfully turned back Iranian vessels.
