Washington: US President Donald Trump has defended his controversial plan to construct a new ballroom and military complex on the White House grounds, describing a proposed rooftop “DronePort” as an important national security asset.
Trump shared a graphic of the proposed installation on his Truth Social platform, showing military drones positioned on a rooftop above the planned White House ballroom, with armed personnel stationed around the facility.
The US President said the proposed DronePort would strengthen security in Washington, DC, and protect future presidents.
Trump’s remarks come amid a legal dispute over the construction project after a federal appeals court blocked work on the proposed White House ballroom.
The President had earlier described the court’s decision as a “National Security Threat” and a “National disgrace”. He said his administration would challenge the ruling before the US Supreme Court.
The proposed ballroom and associated facilities have drawn scrutiny over their scale and potential impact on the White House complex. The latest dispute has now expanded to include Trump’s plans for a rooftop military installation, which he has presented as part of the project’s national security role.
