New Delhi: At least two people were killed, and several sustained injuries when a ceiling grille collapsed in the lobby of a Greater Noida mall on Sunday.
The incident took place at the Blue Sapphire Mall.
Harendra Bhati and Shakeel, both 35 years old, were identified as the victims who died upon being hit by the falling ceiling grille. Both victims were from Ghaziabad.
According to reports, the victims were en route to the escalator when the grille, designed for fencing, unexpectedly collapsed, resulting in their immediate fatalities.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) mentioned that an ongoing investigation is in progress.
A video capturing the incident reveals the debris of the iron grille beside the escalators, with onlookers gathering at the scene in a state of panic.
