New Delhi: Australia manages to hit back on the second day of the test match as they end the day’s play at 61/1 against India on Saturday.
Nathan Lyon remained the most impactful bowler from the Aussies as he managed to pick up five wickets in the innings. Todd Murphy and Mathew picked up two wickets during their spell.
India lost a few wickets in the opening session of the day. KL Rahul continues to struggle with the bat as he managed to get 17 runs in his innings. Virat Kohli balanced the innings and played a confident knock of 44 runs. However, the batsman was dismissed after a controversial decision by the third umpire.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel continued to provide a strong display of performance with the bat. Ashwin scored 37 runs while Axar Patel played a powerpack inning of 74 runs.
The duo forged a crucial partnership, taking India close to the Aussies as they were bowled out with a lead of one run.
Australian Opener Usman Khawaja failed to carry his form from the last inning and was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne played a quick knock towards the end of the day, ensuring Australia ended the day’s play on a higher note.
