The Congress party on Sunday launched its election campaign with the tagline – Ab Hoga NYAY.
In less than a week before India goes to 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Congress in its campaign tagline made it clear that the party is serious about the minimum income guarantee scheme – the NYAY scheme – launched by party president Rahul Gandhi on March 25.
Congress tweeted, “Poverty will be struck, we will fulfil the dream. In Congress rule, the poor will be empowered. #AbHogaNYAY.”

Congress’s campaign theme song penned by Javed Akhtar, and the video filmed by Nikkhil Advani. The name of the proposed scheme is ‘Nyuntam Aay Yojana’ or NYAY (justice).
While launching the party campaign, senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said the word ‘NYAY’ not only alludes to the party’s proposed minimum income guarantee scheme but encompasses justice to all sections of the society.

He also said there is an atmosphere of ‘anyay’ (injustice) prevailing in the country so NYAY scheme is important for the nation.
While ahead of the launch of Congress’ campaign song, the party had to remove a couple of stanzas after the Election Commission of India reportedly objected to the lines that explicitly referred to alleged disturbed communal harmony.
Earlier on March 25, Rahul Gandhi announced the party’s big poll promise – Rs 72,000 annual income support for 20 per cent of the poorest families in the country.
“20 per cent of the poorest families will be given an income support of Rs 72,000 every year. All modalities have been worked out and this is possible within our budget. We have studied fiscal implications of the scheme,” Rahul Gandhi said.
