Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Arrives In India For State Visit, Meets EAM Jaishankar

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday. Following their meeting, Jaishankar highlighted that the Bangladeshi leader’s visit serves as a testament to the “close and abiding ties” that exist between India and Bangladesh.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) EAM Jaishankar wrote, “”Delighted to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh this evening. Her State visit to India underlines our close and abiding ties. Appreciate her guidance on the further development of our special partnership.”


Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Two-Day State Visit

PM Hasina arrived in New Delhi earlier in the day at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bangladesh Prime Minister is on a two-day state visit from June 21 to 22. This is the first incoming bilateral State Visit after the formation of the government in India following the 18th Lok Sabha elections.

Newly-appointed Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirtivardhan Singh, personally welcomed Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina upon her arrival at the airport earlier today.

PM Hasina will engage in a series of high-level meetings. Apart from bilateral consultations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she is set to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
