New Delhi: Amid the recent row over talks of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his visit to the United Kingdom, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad lashed out at the Wayanad MP and accused him of “insulting” India’s democracy, Parliament, and political system.
Ravi Shankar Prasad while addressing a press conference claimed that Rahul Gandhi with his comments has “insulted India’s democracy, parliament, political system and people of India including justice system and strategic security.”
During a talk in London, Rahul Gandhi questioned, “why Europe and the US, the defenders of democracies, were oblivious of how a huge chunk of democracy in India had come undone”.
Prasad hit back at the comment and said “We ask Congress president Mr. Kharge if you feel that you are an elected president of Congress, do you support this irresponsible and shameful comment of Rahul Gandhi,”.
He further questioned Sonia Gandhi and added that “BJP will like to urge you to make your stand very clear – where do you stand in the face of this utterly irresponsible statement of your son asking for interference by America and Europe to restore democracy in India?”
Highlighting the comments made by the Congress leader, Prasad added that “It’s utterly shameful that Rahul Gandhi, from a foreign land, has tried to hurt the spirits of India’s consensus on the subject that no foreign country must intervene in India’s internal affairs.”
