New Delhi: A “terrorist attack” took place near Turkey’s parliament in Ankara on Sunday resulting in two injured police officers, as reported by the interior ministry.
The ministry detailed that at approximately 9:30 am (0630 GMT), two terrorists, using a commercial vehicle, executed a bomb attack “in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of our Ministry of the Interior.”
“One of the terrorists blow himself, and the other was neutralized, with two officers sustaining minor injuries,” the ministry stated on social media.
The explosion happened just hours before parliament was due to reconvene.
According to Turkish media, the district under attack is home to various ministries and the Turkish parliament, which was scheduled to resume today with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivering an address.
