Jos Buttler produced one of the standout knocks of the season, powering Gujarat Titans to a commanding seven-wicket win over Delhi Capitals with an unbeaten 97 that oozed class and control. The victory marked a much-needed return to form for GT, who successfully chased down a challenging 204-run target with four balls to spare.

Chasing on a true batting surface, Gujarat got off to a shaky start as skipper Shubman Gill was run out in the second over. But Buttler, fresh off 20 overs behind the stumps, wasted no time in shifting gears. Teaming up with Sai Sudharsan, the duo launched a sharp counterattack to keep GT ahead of the required rate during the powerplay. Sudharsan, currently the IPL’s leading run-scorer, looked dangerous before falling to Kuldeep Yadav while attempting a big shot.
Sherfane Rutherford then stepped in and took his time to settle. Once in rhythm, he and Buttler began peppering the boundary rope with crisp strokeplay. Buttler, in particular, was unstoppable — his assault on Mitchell Starc, which included five consecutive boundaries, was the highlight of the chase and a clear turning point.
Despite some late tension introduced by Mukesh Kumar’s tidy penultimate over, the calm presence of Rahul Tewatia ensured there were no last-over nerves. True to his reputation, Tewatia finished the match in style as GT crossed the finish line with four deliveries to spare.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals posted a total of 203/8 after being sent in to bat first by the Gujarat Titans, but there’s a sense they left a few runs out there despite the strong platform laid early on.
