New Delhi: Mallikarjun Kharge took charge of the grand old party on Wednesday and formed a Steering Committee including Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The committee has 47 names including top party leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Ajay Maken, Sonia Gandhi, and many others.

The Committee will function in place of the Congress Working Committee, the top decision-making body of the party. The committee will function till a new Working Committee is set up in the next AICC meeting.
AICC general secretary Organisation KC Venugopal said, “All the CWC members, AICC general secretaries, and in-charges have tendered their resignation to Congress president,”.
This comes in line with the party’s age-old tradition of office bearers resigning as soon as the new president is elected which allows him to set up his own team of members.
