Deepak Chahar To Miss ODI Series After Injury, Mukesh Choudhary, Chetan Sakariya To Join T20 WC Squad

Date:

New Delhi: Indian pacer Deepak Chahar is likely to miss the ongoing ODI series due to a twisted ankle during one of the training sessions ahead of the first match against South Africa in Lucknow.

According to a source close to PTI “Deepak has sustained a twisted ankle but it’s not too serious. However a few days of rest might be advisable,”.

The report added, “So it will be team management’s call if they would like to risk Deepak as he is in the T20 World Cup standby list. In any case, if there is a requirement there, it would be a priority.”

The report further added that Mukesh Choudhary and Chetan Sakariya left for Australia on Friday and are likely to join the team as net bowlers in Perth’s first leg of the practice camp.

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a back injury. However, the management is yet to officially announce a replacement for Bumrah. According to PTI’s source “Mohammed Shami, if fit, was always going to be the first replacement as that’s the closest Indian team can get in terms of sheer quality. He will be joining sometime next week,”.
