New Delhi: The Delhi Government on Wednesday extended the ‘old excise policy’ for a period of six months and further instructed the officials to prepare a new policy soon.
The Excise department listed five dry days during the period of next six months which includes Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday, Buddha Purnima, Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha.
Earlier, the government revoked the new Excise Policy and implemented the old policy for the time being.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is currently under ED custody in connection with the case pertaining to the same excise policy. He was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) during his judicial custody in Tihar Jail, where he is lodged.
The proposed new policy introduced by the Delhi Government was opposed by both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress on ‘ethical’ and ‘moral’ grounds.
