Social media platform X (formerly Twitter), owned by Elon Musk, suffered a major global outage on Monday, leaving thousands of users unable to access the service. The disruption impacted users across multiple countries, including the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.
According to outage-tracking website Downdetector, the platform saw a surge in complaints, with over 40,000 disruption reports recorded at the peak of the outage. Many users reported being unable to load the app or website, while others faced login difficulties.
Despite the initial spike in reports, issues continued to persist for many users hours after the outage began. The company has yet to provide an official explanation for the disruption or a timeline for full restoration.
This is not the first time X has faced technical difficulties since Musk’s takeover. The platform has undergone several changes in infrastructure and policy, sometimes leading to unexpected service interruptions.
