Doha: The ultimate sporting event of the year, FIFA World Cup 2022 is all set to begin in Qatar on Sunday with the first encounter between the hosts Qatar and Ecuador.

  • The tournament will kickstart on November 20 and will end on December 18.

  • A total of 64 games will be played in the World Cup to determine the world champion.
  • Total of 32 countries divided in eight groups will compete for the ultimate glory.

  • According to reports, global sensation band BTS’s Jungkook will perform in the opening ceremony of the mega event.
  • The first game will kickstart at the iconic Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor City.

  • The final match will be played at the 80,000-seat Lusail Stadium on December 18.
  • Al Rihla, the official ball for the World Cup symbolises the “journey”.

  • The World Cup matches will be played in eight different stadiums namely, Lusail Iconic Stadium, Al Bayt Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Stadium 974, Al Thumama Stadium, Education City Stadium, Al Wakrah Sports Complex.

  • In India, fans can catch the live action on Sports 18 network on television. Matches will stream on the JioCinema App.
  • In the US, the matches will be broadcasted live on Fox, FS1, FS2. Online streaming will be available on Fox Sports app, Telemundo Deportes En Vivo, Universo Now, Peacock Premium.
  • The BBC and ITV will broadcast World Cup coverage in the United Kingdom.
  • For fans in Australia, the World Cup will be available on SBS and SBS VICELAND.
