According to media reports, India is likely to team up with Russia to set up a nuclear power plant on the moon. The mission may also China. The reports are based on the recent remarks made by Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation chief at the Eastern Economic Forum recently. During the event, Rosatom chief, Alexey Likhachev, was quoted as saying that Chinese and Indian partners “are very interested” in this mission.
The lunar power project will aim to build a small nuclear power plant capable of generating up to half a megawatt of energy, providing the necessary power for the base, according to TASS.
Likhachev reiterated that both China and India are “eager” to work with Roscosmos in creating this ground-breaking lunar energy solution.
