Indian Elections 2024: From Biden To Putin, World Leaders Congratulate PM Modi

New Delhi: Congratulations are rolling in for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, setting the stage for forming a successive government for the third time. World leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, have extended their congratulations to Modi and his party on this significant victory.

US President Joe Biden congratulated PM Modi and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on their victory. He noted that the friendship between India and the US is only growing as the two nations unlock a shared future of unlimited potential.

Taking to X (Formerly Twitter), Biden stated, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance on their victory, and the nearly 650 million voters in this historic election. The friendship between our nations is only growing as we unlock a shared future of unlimited potential.”

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his election victory, stating, “Today I spoke to @narendramodi to congratulate him on his election victory. The UK and India share the closest of friendships, and together that friendship will continue to thrive.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the BJP’s victory in the general parliamentary elections. The Russian president in a statement said, “Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the victory of the Indian People’s Party in the general parliamentary elections. The voting results again confirmed your personal high political authority, support for your course towards accelerated socio-economic development of India and the protection of its interests on the world stage.”

“We attach great importance to the relationship of a particularly privileged strategic partnership with New Delhi. I am confident that the interests of the friendly peoples of Russia and India are in the interests of further building up traditional mutually beneficial cooperation and filling it with new content,” the statement added.


Republic of Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his election victory. He said, “Congratulations to PM Modi for winning the general election with broad support of the Indian people. The result shows their unwavering trust in your outstanding leadership. Look forward to working closely with you to deepen the Korea-India Special Strategic Partnership!”


President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his re-election. In his tweet, he stated, “I extend my sincere congratulations to my friend PM Narendra Modi on his re-election as Prime Minister and wish him success in leading India to further progress and growth. Our two countries enjoy a deeply rooted strategic partnership and I look forward to our continued collaboration aimed at advancing the shared development goals of our nations and our peoples.”

Extending his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron said, India has concluded the world’s largest elections! Congratulations @NarendraModi, my dear friend. Together we will continue strengthening the strategic partnership that unites India and France.”

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic also extended heartfelt congratulations to Narendra Modi. In a post on X, the Serbian president wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations @narendramodi on your electoral victory. I am confident that India will continue on its current path of impressive successes and prosperity under your prudent leadership and that we will keep fostering strong ties between Serbia and India.”

Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Store also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his third consecutive victory in the Lok Sabha elections and said that he looks forward to even deeper and stronger ties between the two nations.
