IPL 2023: Varun, Suyash Shine As KKR Beat RCB By 81 Runs

Kolkata: Fiery spell from Varun and Suyash guided Kolkata Knight Riders to a dominant win by 81 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday.

KKR’s spinning unit dominated the second innings as Sunil Narine scalped an early wicket of in-form Virat Kohli. Varun Chakravarthy joined the attack and dismissed RCB skipper Faf du Plessis.

Chakravarthy managed to secure four wickets in his spell while Sunil Narine scalped two crucial wickets.

KKR’s impact player Suyash Sharma left a mark in his debut game as he picked three wickets in his spell bowling out RCB for a total of 123 runs.

Earlier, inviting KKR to bat first, RCB managed to scalp early wickets in the game. David Willey dismissed Venkatesh Iyer and Mandeep Singh in a single over.

Skipper Nitish Rana and power-hitter Andre Russell fell prey to the RCB bowling attack as they were dismissed by Michael Bracewell and Karn Sharma respectively.

Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh played a crucial knock of 68 and 46 runs guiding the team to a mammoth score of 205 runs for chase.

With this, KKR will clash with Gujarat Titans while RCB will play against Lucknow SuperGiants in their next match.
