Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) batting struggles continued as they fell to a 25-run defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Brought into the XI to bolster the top order, Devon Conway failed to make an impact, and CSK endured another sluggish powerplay that set the tone for their unsuccessful chase of 184.

Rachin Ravindra fell cheaply, while skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was undone by a sharp short ball from Mitchell Starc. Conway’s scratchy knock came to an end at the hands of Vipraj Nigam, leaving CSK reeling early. By the end of the powerplay, the hosts were already behind the required rate and never quite recovered.
The pressure mounted as Shivam Dube briefly injected life into the innings with the first six of the game in the 10th over but perished on the very next delivery. From there, it was one-way traffic as DC’s bowlers continued to dominate.
Vijay Shankar, despite four reprieves, top-scored with an unbeaten 69, while MS Dhoni made his earliest appearance at the crease in an IPL match since 2023, walking in during the 11th over. The duo stitched together a half-century stand, but it was more about damage control than a serious challenge to DC’s total. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 30 off 36 balls, but CSK never looked close to pulling off the chase.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced a calculated and composed assault from KL Rahul as Delhi Capitals (DC) posted a solid 183 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. Returning to his preferred opening slot, Rahul played a classic anchor’s role, crafting a well-paced fifty that allowed DC to dictate terms despite CSK’s strong bowling attack.
