Uddhav Thackeray, who took oath as Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Friday, will face a floor test in the Assembly on Saturday at 2 pm.
NCP MLA Dilip Walse Patil will be the pro-tem or temporary Speaker for the special session of the Maharashtra Assembly which will be convened today. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had asked Thackeray to prove majority by December 3.
The alliance of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP called ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’ is headed by Uddhav Thackeray and have 154 MLAs in the 288-member Assembly, nine more than the majority mark. They also have the support of some Independents, taking their strength to 165.
Meanwhile, Leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi to meet at Vidhan Bhavan at 9.30 am today over confidence vote and Speaker election.
The BJP had emerged as the single largest party in the state with 105 seats followed by former ally Shiv Sena with 56 seats. While NCP has 54 seats and Congress got 44 seats in the assembly polls held on October 21.

The 30-year-old allies had the majority to form a government, the Sena served its ties over power-sharing. The Shiv Sena had insisted on rotational chief ministership, which the BJP rejected.
