McLaren unveils 600LT; check out prices, features and specifications

Date:

British car-maker McLaren has unveiled the fourth of its family, the new 600 LT (Longtail). The track-focussed which the company claims has increased power and improved aerodynamics.

Powering the car will be a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine that produces a power of 592 bhp and a torque of 620 Nm. The car sports the maximum upgrades with several interior elements being derivative from its ‘ultimate series’ cars such as the P1 and the Senna.

The Longtail that is inspired from the 1997 F1 GTR which won the 24 hour Le Mans has a silhouette which extends by 74mm more than the 570S. The car is said to have reduced weight, accounting to McLaren’s popular engineering involving carbon fibre chassis and body. The car-maker claims that the dry-weight of the car adds up to just 1247 kgs.

The cockpit of the car can see plenty of parts derived from its high-spec models such as the McLaren P1 and the Senna. Coming under the package in question are the carbon fibre seats that the Senna sports along with the carbon fibre roof, cant rails and vented carbon fibre front fenders.

The new model features the forged aluminium double-wishbone suspension and lightweight braking system along with the significantly firmer engine mounts and exhausts that placed virtually behind the driver’s shoulder for the enhanced experience of the engine sound in the cabinet. Like the longtail version of the 1997 F1 GTR, the new model also gets increased downforce helping a better chassis geometry during high-speeds.

Like its predecessors, the car will be manufactured at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, Surrey and will be exported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) to other countries. Price of the car has not yet been revealed by the company.
