Mohan Yadav To Be Madhya Pradesh’s Next Chief Minister; All You Need To Know

New Delhi: Mohan Yadav, on Monday was appointed as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s recent electoral victory, which saw them reclaim power in the state and take control from the Congress in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. This marks the second announcement among the three states.

The 58-year-old politician won from the Ujjain South constituency for the third consecutive time in the 2023 assembly election, winning by a margin of 12,941 votes.

He was chosen for the post during a BJP legislature party meeting in Bhopal, a decade after the election results were declared. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the former chief minister, had previously said that he was not competing for the chief minister’s role.

Yadav began his political career with his first election as an MLA in 2013, securing re-election in the subsequent 2018 Madhya Pradesh assembly polls.

Elevating his standing in the state’s political landscape, Yadav took the oath as a cabinet minister on July 2, 2020, under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Born on March 25, 1965, in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav has sustained a longstanding association with the BJP, managing a delicate balance between his political engagements and business pursuits.

In the recent 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, Mohan Yadav successfully defended his seat in the Ujjain South constituency, claiming victory with a margin of 12,941 votes against Congress candidate Chetan Premnarayan Yadav. This victory marked his third consecutive term as an MLA, amassing 95,699 votes.

The Ujjain South constituency, located in the Malwa North region and falling within the Ujjain Lok Sabha constituency, has been a consistent stronghold for the BJP since 2003.
