Date:

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2024 on July 23 in the Lok Sabha, as confirmed by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju. The announcement follows the President’s approval for summoning both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2024, scheduled to run from July 22 to August 12.

This will be the inaugural budget presented by the coalition government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in its third consecutive term.

Earlier, the first session of the Parliament following the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha saw heated exchanges between the opposition and the government, centered on various issues, including the NEET-UG examination.

President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint sitting of both Houses on June 27, following which the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adopted motions of thanks on the President’s address. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the debates on the motion of thanks in both Houses.
