Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro, who was the Chief Guest in India’s 70th Republic Day celebrations this year, has—in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi–invoked the Ramayana and Lord Hanuman to convey a message of cooperation to deal with the Covid-19 crisis.
Diplomatic sources have told NewsMobile, that the Brazilian President has communicated to PM Modi that both Brazil and India will overcome the crisis posed by Covid-19 the same way Lord Hanuman brought medicine from the Himalayas to save the life of Lord Rama’s brother Lakshmana.
On April 4, PM Modi had a telephonic conversation with President Bolsonaro and conveyed his condolences on the loss of lives in Brazil due to Covid-19. He had said that prayers of every India were with the friendly people of Brazil at this time.
The two leaders had stressed the significance of close cooperation between India and Brazil, bilaterally as well as in the multilateral institutional framework, to mitigate the grave crises caused by Covid-19. They had also agreed on the need to forge a new human-centric concept of globalisation for the post-Covid world.
India has assured all possible support to Brazil in this difficult hour.
