Indian para-shooter Rubina Francis secured a bronze medal in the P2 – Women’s 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final on Saturday at the ongoing Paris Paralympics. Francis accumulated a total of 211.1 points in the final, earning her a well-deserved spot on the podium.

The gold medal in the event was claimed by Javanmardi Sareh of Iran, who dominated the competition with a score of 236.8 points. Turkey’s Ozgan Aysel finished in second place, taking home the silver medal with a score of 231.1 points.
In the qualification round, Rubina Francis finished sixth with a total score of 556 points across six rounds (90, 90, 95, 92, 95, 94), securing her place in the final.
Earlier, reigning Paralympic champion Avani Lekhara continued her winning streak by striking gold in the Women’s 10M Air Rifle SH-1 final. Lekhara delivered a personal best performance, securing the top spot with a remarkable score of 249.7 points. South Korea’s Yunri Lee claimed the silver with 246.8 points, while India’s Mona Agarwal won bronze, finishing third with 228.7 points.
Rubina’s success adds to India’s impressive track record in shooting at the Paralympics. The Indian shooting contingent had a stellar performance in the previous Tokyo Paralympics, where they won a total of five medals: two golds, one silver, and two bronzes.
