US President Joe Biden, made his first address to the people of America on Wednesday after dropping out of the presidential race. Biden said that he wants to pass on the torch to the new generation. He also said that his record as a president merited a second term at the Oval Office but it is now more important to protect American democracy as well as unite his party.

The 81-year-old also hailed for “tough” and “capable” Kamala Harris, 59, who is all set to become the new presidential nominee from the Democratic party.
“I revere this office, but I love my country more. It’s been the honour of my life to serve as your President. But in the defence of democracy, which is at stake, it’s more important than any title,” Biden added.

Biden stated that he now sees how critical it is to bring his party together for this vital endeavor. This occurs in response to numerous Democratic Party leaders expressing their displeasure with Biden serving as their nominee for president. Biden’s chances of winning were apparently “greatly diminished,” according to former president Barack Obama, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi also pushed for his resignation.
The veteran Democrat said , “there was a time and a place for new voices, fresh voices. Yes, younger voices. And that time and place is now.”
