Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his five-nation diplomatic tour on Wednesday, departing for New Delhi from Namibia after a series of high-level engagements across three continents. The trip, which began on July 2, saw the Prime Minister visiting Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.
In the final leg of his journey, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Namibian Parliament, where his remarks received a standing ovation from lawmakers. Highlighting the shared democratic values and mutual respect between India and Namibia, Modi spoke of deepening cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, trade, and capacity-building.
Earlier, Namibia’s President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, conferred upon PM Modi the country’s highest civilian award—the Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis. Accepting the honour with humility, Modi dedicated the award to the people of Namibia and the enduring friendship between the two nations.
The five-nation tour underlined India’s ongoing efforts to build stronger partnerships and reinforce its global diplomatic footprint. Modi’s engagements included bilateral talks on economic collaboration, renewable energy, digital cooperation, and cultural exchange, as well as efforts to foster greater ties with the Indian diaspora in several countries.
