Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump spoke over the phone on Thursday, marking a renewed push to advance the India–US partnership across strategic and economic sectors.
The conversation, described by PM Modi as “warm and engaging,” focused on assessing recent progress and identifying new avenues of cooperation, according to people familiar with the matter.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Had a very warm and engaging conversation with President Trump. We reviewed the progress in our bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments. India and the US will continue to work together for global peace, stability and prosperity.”
Sources indicated that the two leaders exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in trade, critical and emerging technologies, energy, defence, and security. They also agreed to work closely to address mutual challenges and deepen cooperation in areas of shared interest.
This phone call comes weeks after their last interaction in October, when PM Modi congratulated President Trump on the “success” of the Gaza peace plan.
According to people familiar with the discussion, Modi and Trump reviewed the trajectory of the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and expressed satisfaction with the steady expansion of cooperation across all fronts. Both leaders highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum in efforts to enhance bilateral trade.
PM Modi and President Trump also agreed to remain in regular contact as both nations continue to build on recent diplomatic and strategic gains.
