PM Modi Lauds Recognition Of PRAGATI By Oxford University

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday celebrated the global recognition of India’s digital governance platform, PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation), following its mention in a study conducted by the University of Oxford. The report lauded PRAGATI for revolutionizing the delivery of infrastructure projects and fostering efficiency in governance.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his delight, stating, “Am glad that the effectiveness of PRAGATI has been recognised in the study by @OxfordSBS and @GatesFoundation.” He highlighted the transformative power of the initiative, emphasizing how it blends technology with governance to eliminate bureaucratic silos and ensure timely completion of projects.

“Over the years, these sessions have led to substantive benefits, which have greatly benefitted people,” PM Modi added.

The study, titled From Gridlock to Growth: How Leadership Enables India’s PRAGATI Ecosystem to Power Progress, commended the platform for addressing long-standing challenges in infrastructure development. It described PRAGATI as a symbol of India’s commitment to overcoming bureaucratic hurdles and fostering a collaborative “Team India” mindset.

The report highlighted the platform’s role in bringing together stakeholders from central and state governments on a unified digital interface, enabling effective coordination and accountability. Using real-time data, drone technology, and video conferencing, PRAGATI has accelerated project timelines while ensuring the benefits of development reach even remote areas.

“The lessons from PRAGATI are particularly relevant as nations worldwide grapple with the Middle-Income Trap. The platform demonstrates that governance innovation, coupled with strategic investments in infrastructure, can create the conditions necessary for sustained economic growth and social progress,” the report said.

Launched by PM Modi in 2015, PRAGATI represents a major step forward in India’s approach to managing large-scale infrastructure projects and social sector programs. By integrating cutting-edge technology with governance mechanisms, the initiative has redefined how projects are monitored and implemented across the nation.

The platform’s focus on addressing critical challenges, such as land acquisition and inter-ministerial coordination, has significantly reduced delays in project execution. The University of Oxford study hailed PRAGATI as a model for efficient governance, attributing its success to its ability to foster accountability and ensure timely delivery of results.
