New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor in New Delhi. During the meeting, Gor presented PM Modi with a framed photograph from a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump at the White House earlier this year. The picture also carried a personal message from President Trump, which read, “Mr Prime Minister, you are Great.”
Taking to X, PM Modi expressed his appreciation, writing, “Glad to receive Mr Sergio Gor, Ambassador-designate of the US to India. I’m confident that his tenure will further strengthen the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.”

Ambassador Gor, speaking about his visit, highlighted the personal rapport between President Trump and PM Modi. “President Trump considers Prime Minister Modi a great and personal friend. In fact, just before I left for New Delhi, they had an incredible phone call. That is something that will continue over the weeks and months ahead. It’s an honour to serve as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to India,” he said.

He added that the meetings during his visit focused on key bilateral issues, including defence, trade, technology, and critical minerals. “We had a great series of meetings, including with Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The U.S. values its relationship with India, and under the strong leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Modi, I’m optimistic about the days ahead for both our nations,” Gor stated.
Earlier in the day, Gor also met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
