New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke with US Vice President JD Vance over the phone and discussed ways to further deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership across key areas.
Modi also congratulated Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance on the birth of their son and conveyed his best wishes to the family. Further details of the conversation were not immediately available.

The call came days after US Congressman Riley Moore raised concerns over proposed amendments to India’s Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), claiming they could allow the government to take over churches and religious charities.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs rejected the concerns, saying legislative matters are an internal affair and noting that several countries, including the US, regulate foreign funding.
Vance’s last publicly known call with Modi was in May 2025 during Operation Sindoor. Modi later told Parliament that Vance had warned him of a possible major Pakistani attack, to which he responded that India’s retaliation would be stronger.
Vance and Usha recently welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The birth marked the first time in more than 150 years that a sitting US vice president welcomed a child.
