Allu Arjun, who was previously arrested and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the Pushpa 2 premiere, has now been granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court.
Shortly after he was taken into custody Mr Arjun filed a petition seeking to delay his arrest till Monday.
Mr Arjun was taken from his Jubilee Hills home to the Chikkadpally Police Station. The actor’s father, Allu Arvind, and other family members were present when he was arrested.
The actor has claimed that the police stormed into his house and entered his bedroom to arrest him.
The stampede resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman and left her son critically injured.
The police filed a case against the management of Sandhya Theatre, the actor, and his security team.
Officers stated that they had not received prior notice that the actor and his team would be attending the premiere, which led to the disorder at the event.
