New Delhi: Preparations are underway for the highly anticipated ICC World Cup 2023, with excitement mounting for the opening match between England and New Zealand—a repeat of the thrilling final in the previous edition.
The grand opening ceremony, scheduled for October 4th at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, will mark Captains’ Day and commence at 7 PM IST. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has gone all out, featuring Bollywood stars like Ranveer Singh, renowned singers Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh, along with the legendary Asha Bhosle.
As the much-anticipated event approaches, extensive preparations are in progress, ensuring that everything is ready for the grand occasion. The stage has been carefully arranged for the upcoming performance, and rehearsals are already underway.
Ahead of the grand opening, all ten captains are expected to arrive in Ahmedabad on October 3rd. However, due to India’s warm-up match against the Netherlands on the same day, along with other teams, most of them, including Rohit Sharma, will be arriving on the morning of October 4th.
Unlike the usual tradition, the opening ceremony of the World Cup is scheduled a day before the official opening match. This adjustment is prompted by the matches starting at 2 PM IST, making it challenging to accommodate an extensive event on the same day. Furthermore, the impact of fireworks and laser displays wouldn’t be fully realized in the daylight.
