Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation to visit India, with preparations for the visit currently underway, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed on Thursday.
Lavrov, addressing the “Russia and India: Toward a New Bilateral Agenda” conference, highlighted that preparations for Putin’s visit are already underway. The conference, organized jointly by the Indian Embassy in Russia and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), served as a platform to discuss the evolving ties between the two countries.
The visit follows PM Modi’s trip to Russia earlier this year, marking his first foreign visit after securing a fresh mandate in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. His previous visit to Moscow in July 2023 for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit underscored the robust engagement between the two nations.
Putin’s India visit is expected to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including defense, trade, and energy. The visit’s exact dates and agenda are yet to be finalized.
