Dubai: Amid the growing tension in Sudan, Saudi Arabia on Saturday announced the evacuation of some Indian nationals among 66 citizens of 12 nations who landed safely in Saudi Arabia.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said “We are pleased to announce the safe arrival of the citizens of the Kingdom who were evacuated from the Republic of Sudan as well as several nationals of brotherly and friendly countries, including diplomats and international officials,”.

The statement further confirmed that the “evacuation operation carried out by the Royal Saudi Naval Forces with the support of various branches of the armed forces ” ensured the safe arrival of people.
The statement added that “The number of citizens who were evacuated reached 91 citizens, while the number of people who were evacuated from brotherly and friendly countries reached approximately 66, representing the following nationalities (Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Tunisia, Pakistan, India, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Canada, and Burkina Faso)”.
The ministry further added that all necessary steps are being undertaken to transfer the foreign nationals to their respective countries.
Earlier on Tuesday, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar held talk with Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Al Saud were they discussed about the evacuation of Indian nationals from conflict-hit Sudan.
