Seven-day quarantine only for those coming from Maha: Karnataka

Date:

The Karnataka government has announced that only those passengers arriving from the state of Maharashtra will now have to undergo institutional quarantine.

The state Department of Health and Family Welfare issued a note saying that those arriving from Maharashtra will have to compulsorily undergo 7 days of institutional quarantine followed by 7 days of home quarantine. However, an exemption has been made for women who are pregnant, those above 60 years, children below the age of 10 and those who have had a death in the family. They will directly undergo a 14 day home quarantine.

However, those who are arriving from Maharashtra and have a COVID-19 negative certificate from an ICMR registered laboratory that is not more than two days old will be permitted to not undergo institutional quarantine.

Similarly, business travellers entering the state from Maharashtra, in addition to a COVID-19 negative certificate will also have to show a return ticket not older than seven days to avoid quarantine. Those who do have the certificate can avail the testing facility at the quarantine centres after states.

The government had earlier decided to restrict travel from the five states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

Travelers from other states will have to undergo a 14 day home quarantine.

The BBMP has also asked its officers to crack down on those entering the state illegally. This order came after many RWA in Bengaluru complained that many of their staff had returned illegally from other states. This has reignited fears of COVID-19 growth.
