One of India’s finest white-ball openers, Shikhar Dhwan announced retirement from international cricket nearly after two decade long sporting career.
Dhawan made the announcement in a video shared on his social media handles X and Instagram. The 38 year-old left-hand-opener said he will take with him countless memories and also thanked the fans, the BCCI and the DDCA. Fondly known as the ‘Gabbar’ of Indian cricket, Dhawan said he wasn’t sad to be no longer representing India but was happy to have worn the blue jersey for so long.

The ace cricketer last played for team India in 2022 during the ODI series against Bangladesh.
Dhawan, who holds the world record for the fastest Test century on debutant made his India debut in 2010 during an ODI against Australia. A year later, he played for India in four more ODIs against the West Indies, scoring a highest of 51.
Dhawan has played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is for India between 2010 and 2022 and has scored over 10,000 runs in international cricket.
While playing cricket for India was his cherished dream which he has successfully accomplished, Dhawan has also been successful at other streaks. He became an entrepreneur as well by setting up a $75 million Sports Technology Fund. He has hosted a celebrity talk show, acted in 2022 Bollywood film Double XL, and also owns a team in the Delhi Premier League.
