A heavy police operation unfolded at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach after reports of an intense burst of gunfire sent shockwaves through the area, prompting urgent public warnings and multiple arrests.

People in Bondi reported hearing as many as 50 gunshots, with witnesses seeing individuals lying on the ground near Campbell Parade, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. In the ensuing police response, one man believed to be one of the shooters was shot by police, while another man, believed to be a second shooter, was arrested, the report said.
New South Wales Police confirmed on X that two people are currently in custody at Bondi Beach, adding that the operation remains ongoing as authorities secure the area and assess the situation.

Police issued an urgent advisory, asking the public to stay away from the popular beachfront precinct and urging those already in the area to seek immediate shelter.
“Police are responding to a developing incident at Bondi Beach and are urging the public to AVOID the area. Anyone at the scene should take shelter,” New South Wales Police said in a statement shared on social media.
