Mumbai: Amid the recent row over the Election Commissions order in favor of Eknath Shinde faction to retain the symbol and name of the party, Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray lashed out at BJP and said “Prime Minister Narendra Modi needs the mask of Balasaheb Thackeray to come to Maharashtra.”
While addressing a large crowd outside Matoshree, Uddhav said that “I’d like to say that they want the face of Balasaheb Thackeray, they want the election symbol but not the family of Shiv Sena.”
He said that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi needs the mask of Balasaheb Thackeray to come to Maharashtra. People of the state know which face is real and which isn’t.”
While lashing out at the Shinde-faction and BJP, he added “Thieves were given the holy ‘bow & arrow’, similarly the ‘torch’ (mashaal) can be taken away. I challenge them – if they’re men, come in front of us even with the stolen ‘bow & arrow’, we’ll contest the election with the ‘torch’. This is our test, the battle has begun.”
Earlier on Friday, the Election Commission in an order allotted the party name “Shiv Sena” and the symbol “Bow and Arrow” to the faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
