The same condition will persist till Saturday, after which the temperature may rise and there will be a dip in rain activity, the meteorological department said. “It’s not very unusual for the monsoon to cover great distances in a short time. It all depends on the conditions. We have been seeing steady easterly wind flows characteristic of the monsoon. This, along with rainfall and other parameters, led to the declaration,” said BP Yadav from IMD’s regional centre here.
