‘Those Who Play With Fire Will Eventually Get Burned’: Xi Jinping Tells Joe Biden On Taiwan

Washington: US President Joe Biden held a video chat with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday where the Chinese President warned Joe Biden to not play with fire on the issue of Taiwan.

According to a report by AFP, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden had their fifth “candid and in-depth” talk over various issues. The report further added that President Xi Jinping warned Joe Biden and added that “Those who play with fire will eventually get burned”.

According to the White House, the conversation lasted for 2 hours and 17 minutes. According to a Global Times report, Xi Jinping held a phone conversation with US President Biden at the request of the latter. This was the second talk since they had a video call in March.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is considering a trip to Taiwan during the congressional recess in August that would make her the highest-ranking American politician since 1997 to visit the self-governed island.
