In a dramatic turn of events, U.S. President Donald Trump has declared the pardons issued by his predecessor, Joe Biden, in the final hours of his presidency as “void, vacant, and of no further force or effect.” Trump contended that the pardons, which were signed using an autopen, a device that replicates a person’s signature—were not personally approved by Biden and may have been executed unlawfully.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump denounced pardons granted to members of the House committee that investigated the January 6 attack on the Capitol, referring to them as the “Unselect Committee of Political Thugs.” He further alleged that committee members had “destroyed and deleted ALL evidence” from their investigation, calling for legal scrutiny into their actions.
“The “Pardons” that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen” Trump wrote.

Trump went on to claim that Biden’s lack of awareness rendered the pardons illegitimate and opened the door for investigations at the highest level.
“The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden. He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime. Therefore, those on the Unselect Committee, who destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained during their two-year Witch Hunt of me, and many other innocent people, should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level,” Trump added.
Biden, in his final moments in office, had issued preemptive pardons to several high-profile figures, including his own family members—brothers James and Francis Biden, sister Valerie Biden Owens, and their spouses. Other notable names on the list included Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and retired General Mark Milley, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
