U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that China has agreed not to supply weapons to Iran, while expressing optimism about relations with Beijing. In a post on Truth Social, Trump described China as “very happy” with his decision to permanently open the Strait of Hormuz, calling the move beneficial for both China and the global community.

He added that cooperation between the United States and China was progressing “very well” and “smartly.” Referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump said he expects a positive reception during an upcoming visit. At the same time, he emphasized U.S. military strength, stating the country is fully prepared if conflict arises.
These remarks come amid ongoing tensions involving Iran and the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil transport.
Meanwhile, efforts to extend the current ceasefire between the United States and Iran have made progress. Both sides have reportedly agreed in principle to prolong the truce beyond its April 22 deadline to allow further negotiations.
Talks remain focused on unresolved issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, control over the Strait, and compensation related to wartime damages, as concerns of escalation continue.
