Trump Says He Plans To End US ‘Birthright Citizenship’ On His First Day In Office

Date:

President-elect Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he plans to eliminate ‘Birthright Citizenship,’ a provision in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This would prevent children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents from automatically gaining citizenship.

In an NBC interview, Trump also reiterated his goal of deporting all immigrants who have entered the U.S. illegally during his four-year term, a key pledge from his Republican presidential campaign.

However, he expressed willingness to work with Democrats to find a compromise that would protect ‘Dreamers’—undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children—allowing them to remain in the country.

On the issue of abortion, Trump stated that he had no plans to limit access to abortion pills. He had previously supported the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in 2022 to overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling, a move backed by the three conservative justices he appointed during his first term.

Regarding NATO, Trump said he would “absolutely” consider taking action if member countries do not fulfill their financial commitments.
