British police have arrested a 27-year-old dual UK-Iranian national on suspicion of plotting a terror attack following a security incident at RAF Fairford, a US-run air base, over the weekend.
Officers also searched two properties in the British capital as part of the investigation.
Five men, all in their 20s and from London, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident at RAF Fairford.
The base has been used by American bombers to strike Iran. All five have since been released on bail.
Counter-terrorism officers have also questioned a 26-year-old UK national under caution as the investigation continues.
Police said they are examining different possibilities surrounding the incident, including potential involvement by a foreign state. Vicki Evans, the Metropolitan Police’s senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism policing, said, “As we’ve made clear, we’re looking at all possible angles – including possible foreign state involvement,” and thanked the public for its continued support and patience while authorities work through the investigation.
