Washington: The White House has launched “Trump TV: The Essentials Station,” a 24/7 streaming platform featuring President Donald Trump’s speeches, administration announcements, public appearances and other official video content.
The first broadcasts included footage from Trump’s inauguration and earlier public events.
The launch comes days after Trump barred journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from White House access, accusing the outlets of publishing what he called false or unfair coverage.
The three organisations have challenged the restrictions in federal court, arguing that the action violates constitutional protections for the press.
The dispute has also affected the White House television press pool, which provides shared coverage of presidential events.
Major networks including ABC, CBS, Fox News and NBC declined to replace CNN in the pool after its access was revoked, temporarily disrupting the usual system for covering Trump’s activities.
The White House has defended its position, saying First Amendment protections allow media organisations to publish but do not guarantee individual outlets access to the White House grounds or press pool.
The lawsuit is scheduled for a court hearing on September 23, while Trump is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
