The White House has launched a strong rebuke against the Norwegian Nobel Committee after U.S. President Donald Trump was overlooked for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, a White House spokesperson accused the committee of “placing politics over peace”, asserting that Trump’s leadership has contributed significantly to advancing global stability.

“President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will,” White House director of communications wrote on X.
The controversy arose after the Nobel Committee announced Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado as this year’s recipient. Machado, a long-time advocate for democracy and human rights, was honoured for her relentless fight to restore democratic governance in Venezuela and her role in seeking a peaceful transition away from dictatorship. The committee commended her for her tireless efforts to promote democratic rights and justice in a nation plagued by political repression and economic turmoil.
While the Nobel committee’s decision was widely praised by human rights organisations, the White House suggested it highlighted a growing politicisation of the Nobel selection process.
“Once again, the Nobel committee has shown it values political agendas over genuine peace,” the spokesperson said.
