Former US President and Republican nominee Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will not participate in another presidential debate against Kamala Harris ahead of the November 5 elections. This announcement comes after several poll surveys predicted that his Democratic rival Kamala Harris won the debate that happened earlier this week.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump asserted that Harris’s request for another debate indicates that she had lost their debate on Tuesday and was looking for a second chance to recover.
“THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. Trump had participated in a debate against President Joe Biden in June before his debate against Harris on Tuesday.
Although Trump claimed that he won the debate, conversations in the media indicated that most of the audience and American people rallied with Harris as Trump was not able to stay on the message.
The debate attracted 67.1 million television viewers, according to Nielsen data.
Speaking at a rally shortly after Trump’s post went live, Kamala Harris said: “I believe we owe it to the voters to have another debate.”
Majority of the debate watchers said Harris outperformed Trump, according to a CNN flash poll released shortly after the debate.
