New Delhi: The South African team displayed a dominant all-round performance against the New Zealand team, securing a resounding 190-run victory at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Wednesday.
Batting first, the Proteas once again posted a formidable total against the Kiwis. Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen both notched brilliant centuries, while David Miller contributed with a quick half-century, setting a mammoth target of 358 runs on the board.
The Kiwis, however, struggled to establish partnerships in their chase, consistently losing wickets due to the relentless bowling performance by the South African team. Eventually, New Zealand was dismissed for a mere 167 runs. Keshav Maharaj was the leading wicket-taker for the Proteas, securing four wickets, while Marco Jansen claimed three, Gerald Coetzee bagged two wickets, and Kagiso Rabada contributed with one wicket.
The South African team completely outplayed the New Zealand team in all departments. With six wins out of their seven matches, the Proteas now comfortably sit on top of the points table.
The Kiwis, with only four wins out of seven games in the tournament, need to win their remaining two matches to secure their place in the 2023 World Cup semi-finals.
